As our kids get older, we’ve realized that the best gifts aren’t always wrapped in shiny paper. Instead of filling our home with things they might not need, we have started gifting experiences—memories that will last far longer than any electronic device or toy.
From concert tickets to a weekend road trip, these moments become stories we’ll talk about for years. Experiences bring us closer, spark new interests, and remind us that the holidays are about connection, not just consumption. Amen to that!
This year, we are excited to create more memories, less “stuff”, and a Christmas they’ll never forget. We are off to London! Jeff and I have been there before, but the kids have never been. Fun fact: Jeff studied abroad in London back in 1992 when he was in college at Colgate.
We started this tradition in previous years when we went to Paris two years ago for our first family European vacation. And then last year when we all drove to Quebec over Christmas break. This idea can also be on a much smaller scale. It does not have to be a vacation. Even an afternoon outing to a special place, or tickets to a sports game make wonderful and meaningful gifts.
In the end, the greatest gift we can give our kids is time together and memories that we will always remember.
Happy Holidays! xoxo NBC
