10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Turning 50
November is my birthday month, hello Scorpio season! Turning 50 actually feels great so far. When you turn 50, you no longer have to apologize for your opinions.
Here is my list of the top 10 things I wish I knew before turning 50. I am writing this in the hopes that it helps someone. (Like a big sister would do.)
Enjoy!
- Stop beating yourself up. Everyone else will do that for you. Be your biggest cheerleader and be loud about it. Love yourself!
- Be who you are. It takes courage to be authentically you. But be brave enough to be yourself.
- Try something new. You are never too old and it is never too late. One of my girlfriends recently told me about how her dad started water skiing at age 68. #GOALS
- Get the Botox. For many years, I was too nervous and slightly judgey about getting botox. But I’ve tried it a few times and I actually love it. Do what makes you happy, and what makes you feel good in your skin!
- Take the trip. Reminder, life is short. Take the trip, do the thing!
- Ask for what you want. Be Direct. If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Don’t be afraid, just go for it.
- If something scares you, then say yes to it. Get out of your comfort zone more often. I know it can be scary, but that’s where the magic happens.
- Avoid REGRET. You will never regret spending time with a loved one. Time is precious, spend it wisely. No regrets!
- Optimism is contagious. If you are happy, then be loud about being happy and spread that happiness…optimism is contagious! Pass it on to others.
- Lift heavy sh*+ ! As you age, you lose muscle so you need to be lifting. Strength training is everything! (Especially for women.)
My bonus advice…it’s last but not least: We rise by lifting others. Kindness always wins. Pay it forward this week!
Thank you for reading this.
In this month of November when we all focus on gratitude, I am grateful for you.
Thank you again, and here’s to good health & good news,
xoxo Nina
