Our 8 year-old daughter said it best on her school assignment. “What is the best thing about the holidays?” She simply wrote down, “the best thing about the holidays is that it brings family together.” That simple reminder from our Boo was so perfectly said. The holidays are such a great time to reconnect and spend quality time together with family and close friends. There’s nothing better! It’s such a good opportunity to slow down and enjoy time together.
We are so blessed to have spent lots of time with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents over the holidays this year. Family time is special, and we make every effort to protect this time, especially over the holidays. Family is the single most important influence in a child’s life, and I have been teaching my kids about the importance of family in their lives. Family will always be there, they know us better than anyone, they stay with us wherever we go with unconditional LOVE.
One of the highlights of our family time are traditions we have like my wonderful husband reading, “The Night Before Christmas”, to everyone before bed time on Christmas Eve. My dad started this tradition when my brother and I were little. We miss my dad so much, but it makes me so happy that we have kept this tradition going.
Another tradition we have is my 80 year-old mother polishing the family silver for Christmas dinner with my kids, and she shares all her family stories with them. She talked about that tradition and a WHOLE LOT more on my most recent podcast.
My hope for all of you during this time is that you are also enjoying some time with your loved ones!
I am looking forward to sharing lots of GOOD NEWS coming for 2019, but until then, I am going back to my family and making more memories!
xoxo NBC
